The project is structured through a series of small actions aimed at reorganizing and enhancing the landscape at the entrance to the Primiero and Vanoi valleys. The intervention, completed in the summer of 2016, represents the first phase of a broader preliminary redevelopment plan for the Primiero valley floor, known as Porta di Primiero. The general preliminary plan includes landscape and functional improvements, with the organization of a terminal parking area to facilitate a shift in mobility, enabling visitors to explore the valleys by bicycle or bus. The intervention focuses on: the inner space of the roundabout at the entrance to the valleys, which is given a communicative role centered on the theme of the Dolomites as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the enhancement of the sides of the “Totoga” tunnel entrance; and promotional signage, which reorganizes the existing communication system. The architectural elements introduced are characterized by a restrained and non-intrusive approach, while the materials reflect the essence of the local landscape.
